Anyone can learn the ‘M’ Technique® – it is suitable for caregivers, family members, volunteers, patient ambassadors and friends as well as nurses, massage therapists and other health professionals.
The ‘M’ Technique® is different from massage – it is more like a choreographed dance. Each simple sequence is done a set number of times at a set pressure. The 'M' stands for "manual". The full body ‘M’ Technique® (practitioner course) can be learned in 2 days – usually over a weekend. The ‘M’ Technique® for Hospital (Hand & Foot) course takes just 4 hours. Each course is taught by a certified R.J. Buckle instructor.

The two-day course covers the full body ‘M’ Technique®. This course is suitable for health professionals (or a layperson caring for a loved one with a chronic illness).
This is a practical class working mainly in pairs or groups of three. Parts of the body included are: head, face, hands, feet, legs, backs of legs, arms, stomach, back, shoulders and neck. The ‘M’® can be given over thin clothing if you have cultural requirements that prevent you from disrobing. Students are required to bring two large towels with them to the course and to dress appropriately.
Practitioner status is only available to licensed health professionals, although every one completing the 2-day course will be given a certificate of attendance.
The learner outcome of the 'M' Technique® practitioner course is to enable nurses and other health providers to use touch for comfort and care, and to promote healing in any setting utilizing this structured touch technique that is suitable for frail and critically ill patients, as well as for healthy individuals of all ages.
This touch technique is used with all types of health conditions: e.g stress management, pain control and anxiety.
The course is also open to non-health professionals such as hospice volunteers, patient advocates or patient ambassadors and to relatives and friends of patients who may be critically ill or very fragile.

This course will show you how to relax someone in about 5 minutes – whether he or she is fragile, critically ill or just stressed out. The course is suitable for nurses and health professionals or volunteers and relatives wanting to de-stress a loved one.
This is a practical class working mainly in pairs. The theory and background of the ‘M’ Technique® is given, plus a discussion of research and case studies. However, the majority of the course is experiential. Students will be expected to be competent in both the hand and the foot 'M' Technique® by the end of the 4 hours and to correctly complete a short multiple-choice test. This course is available to healthcare facilities. Please contact info@rjbuckle.com to learn how to bring this course to your facility.
